Singapore's hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the SEA Games football competition suffered a severe blow as they lost 0-2 to Indonesia on Friday afternoon.
The hosts - cheered on by a 20,000-strong partisan crowd at the Senayan Stadium - got off to a dream start courtesy of striker Patrich Wanggai's goal after just 45 seconds.
The Young Lions then suffered another blow as forward Neil Vanu was sent off in the 22nd minute, with Titus Bonai taking advantage of the numerical advantage to double his side's lead 15 minutes later.
With the win, Indonesia are now top of Group A with six points from two matches. Singapore lie third on four points and will face Thailand in their final match at the same venue on Thursday. (straitstimes.com)
