Creates, monitors, enforces, and adjusts production schedules based on backlogs, forecasts, maintenance schedules, available human resources, and engineering requirements

o Takes a systems-wide approach to planning, production, and production optimization; considers the system-wide and long-term effect of each scheduling decision and acts as a liaison between all departments within the organization to ensure production effectiveness
o Ensures production is efficient and cost-effective and that machines are running at full utilization
o Monitors inventory of materials required for production and plans schedules accordingly
o Builds resource schedules based on production requirements and resource availability and competencies
o Ensures products are produced on time and to quality standards
o Evaluates existing systems and processes to identify opportunities for optimizing production
o Ensures production goals are met; compiles data on production achievement and metrics and provides regular reports to management

- Effectively handles administrative responsibilities, including:
o Creates and provides reports to management; makes recommendations to management based on metrics
o Keeps all workspace, including desk and shop area, clean and organized; enforces standards of cleanliness and sets an example for subordinates
o Creates process flows, standard operating procedures, and instructional documents
o Keeps electronic data organized and easily retrievable

- Manages and directs work of shop employees
o Sets priorities and ensures adherence to schedule, procedures, and rules
o Ensures compliance with standard operating procedures and safety and cleanliness standards
o Communicates resource needs to management and works with Human Resources to identify, hire, develop, and retain the best employees

Ability to handle all CNC machine requirements independently
o Performs setups and investigates, troubleshoots, and repairs process and equipment issues
o Is able to independently troubleshoot and fix problems
o Effectively communicates and coordinate efforts with vendors as needed
o Identifies and communicates production impacts or potential production impacts to management

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- CNC machining expertise
- Thorough knowledge of the manufacturing process
- Capable of and training, coaching, and directing staff
- Strong planning, organizational, time management, goal-setting, and prioritization skills
- Aptitude for problem solving, critical thinking, mathematics, and statistical analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate intelligently and effectively to internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field
- 3-5 Years directly related, hands-on experience
- Machine shop and CNC experience required
